Energy

Transmission and Distribution, headquartered in Manchester and in South Tyneside, is the UK’s leading supplier of electricity transmission and distribution supply systems, services and consultancy to the UK's electricity transmission and distribution industry.  

Their graduates come from Electrical Power Engineering backgrounds, and need to have an MEng. 

Energy Services and Renewablesspecialises in designing, supplying and servicing power plants.  This includes turnkey power stations, wind turbines, generators, electrical and electronic equipment and other key components. It has bases in Nottingham, Newtown (Wales,) Newcastle, Harrogate & Manchester.

Their graduates have Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical and Materials degreebackgrounds and work in either Site Operations or Design & Development.

Oil & Gasis based in Lincoln where more than 2,000 employees design, manufacture and maintain small gas turbines. The facility exports around 85 per cent of the equipment it produces to power plant operators worldwide.

They take graduates from a wide range of engineering disciplines including Manufacturing, Mechantronics, Systems, Electrical, Electronic and Materialsto work in design and manufacturing. 

Instrumentation & Communication and Electronics

It also invented Hawkeye which has revolutionised the coverage of sports such as tennis & cricket.

Employing some of the world’s most talented engineers and scientists, Roke Manor Research provides innovative technical solutions and specialist knowledge to demanding customer problems and delivers a competitive edge to its clients by applying its world-class engineering talent to meet their needs.

Roke is located in Romsey, near Southampton, and recruits graduates of Electronics, Electrical, Software, Computer Science, Physics and Maths. The Mechanical Design Engineer role requires graduates with a Mechanical Engineeringbackground.

Industry Automation and Drive Technologies

It is the world’s number one supplier of automation, process control and electrical distribution products.

Design, sales, distribution and aftersales care are all conducted from our offices in Manchester.  They take graduates from Electronic & Electrical engineering backgrounds.

In the UK, Standard Drives are manufactured from our facility in Congleton, Cheshire.  Their graduates tend to have degrees in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Manufacturing, Electronic or Electrical engineering.

Broadcasting

Our major customer is the BBC to whom we provide services ranging from:
- the development and operation of broadcasting system technology, through;
- the management of projects such as outside broadcasts and building new studios, to;
- the development and management of the BBC's business intelligence and media data systems.

Each year we recruit graduates into Broadcasting Project Management and Systems Engineering. 

These graduates tend to either have Broadcasting Technology degrees, or electronic engineering, systems engineering, computer science, physicsand evidence of related extra-curricular activities - such as working in student radio or TV.

Mobility in Siemens comprises of Trains and Road Traffic Solutions.

Traffic Solutions, the UK market leader, designs, markets, manufactures, installs and maintains a wide portfolio of traffic management products internationally. This includes intersection and pedestrian traffic controllers, intelligent urban traffic control systems, variable message signs, public transport and car park guidance systems to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow in congested urban and inter-urban areas.

Opportunities for graduates within Traffic Solutions include:

Traffic Controls is based in Bournemouth and also has sites in Glasgow, Hayes, and Droitwich.

Trains - Transportation Systems is at the forefront of rail technology.

It designs, manufactures and maintains rolling stock, signalling, electrification systems as well as rail communication, control and information systems to the highest safety standards.

They are looking to recruit graduates with electrical, electronic, control systems, mechanical and related degrees.

Transporation Systems is based in Ashby de la Zouch and has sites in York, Northampton and Portsmouth.

Building Technologies

Their graduates are usually based out of Frimley or Sunbury (near Kingston-on-Thames).

Metallurgical Services

There are 3 product groupings in Siemens VAI, located across 4 sites:
Iron & Steel – Stockton and Sheffield
Rolling & Processing – Sheffield and Christchurch
Metals Services – Sheffield and Scunthorpe

VAI take graduates from almost all engineering disciplines, especially Mechanical, Materials, Electrical, Chemical and Process.
